From Dirt to Done — How a Turnkey Build Works
One contractor. One point of contact. From your initial idea to final walkthrough.

1
Consultation & Design
We start with what you need the building to do.
We’ll help you plan the size, eave height, layout, roof pitch, doors, windows, insulation, colors and other options based on your property, intended use and project goals.
Our standard roof pitch is 2:12, and custom roof pitches can be reviewed depending on the design.

2
Site Prep
Once the project is ready to move forward, we prepare the building area for the concrete work included in your project.
Site conditions are evaluated so any additional grading, fill or other special work can be identified.

3
Concrete Slab
The building pad is formed, reinforced and poured according to the scope of your project.
The concrete and building layout are coordinated from the beginning so the slab is ready for the steel structure.

4
Weld-Up Red Iron Frame
Next comes the backbone of the building.
Structural steel I-beam columns and the welded steel truss system are installed to create the red iron frame.

5
Roofing & Wall Panels
Metal roofing and wall panels are installed in your selected colors, along with the appropriate trim and finishing details for a clean, weather-resistant exterior.

6
Building Options & Finishing Details
Depending on your project, we install insulation, roll-up doors, walk doors, windows, gutters, lean-tos, roof extensions and other options included in your proposal.

7
Final Walkthrough
When construction is complete, we walk the building with you, review the finished project and address any final details.
That’s the difference between buying a metal building kit and hiring a metal building contractor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what people ask us before they build. Don’t see your question? Call (210) 605-3232 and we’ll walk you through it.
What does “turnkey” mean at Texas Metal Builders?
Turnkey means you work with one contractor and one point of contact throughout the construction process. Depending on your project, we can handle site preparation, concrete, the weld-up red iron frame, roofing and wall panels, insulation, doors, windows and other options included in your proposal.
Instead of coordinating multiple contractors yourself, Texas Metal Builders manages the construction process for you.
Do you pour the concrete slab too?
Yes. We handle concrete slabs as part of our turnkey metal building projects, including normal site preparation, forming, reinforcement, pouring and finishing.
Coordinating the concrete and steel under one contractor helps keep the slab and building layout working together from the beginning.
How long does it take to build a metal building?
Project timelines depend on the size and complexity of the building, site conditions, concrete work, material availability, weather and custom features.
As a general estimate, many of our turnkey metal building projects take approximately 5–7 weeks once construction begins.
Carports and RV covers can often be completed in approximately 1–5 days, depending on the size, design, project specifications, weather and site conditions.
We’ll discuss the expected timeline for your specific project before construction begins.
Do I need a permit for a metal building in Texas?
Permit requirements depend on the location and intended use of the building.
Many rural and county areas outside city limits may not require a traditional building permit for certain metal buildings, while properties inside city limits and buildings intended for residential or commercial use may have additional requirements.
Floodplain, development, HOA/POA or other property-specific requirements may also apply. Because every project and location is different, property owners should verify the requirements that apply to their specific property and intended use before construction begins.
Can I customize my metal building?
Yes. Our metal buildings are built around the needs of each project.
You can customize the width, length, eave height, building layout, doors, windows, insulation, colors, lean-tos, roof extensions and other options.
Our standard roof pitch is 2:12, and custom roof pitches can be reviewed depending on the design and project requirements.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Financing options are available through our financing partner for qualified customers.
Visit our Financing page to learn more and view available options.
What areas does Texas Metal Builders serve?
We’re based in the San Antonio area and build throughout San Antonio, the Texas Hill Country and surrounding South Texas communities, including Helotes, Boerne, Bulverde, Spring Branch, Hondo, Devine, Castroville, New Braunfels and surrounding areas.
We regularly work on rural and county properties, and projects farther outside our normal service area may be considered depending on the scope.
What information do you need to quote a metal building?
Start with the approximate width, length and eave height, your property location and what you plan to use the building for.
It also helps to know whether you need concrete, insulation, roll-up doors, walk doors, windows, lean-tos, roof extensions or other options.
Send us those details through our Free Quote form or call or text us at (210) 605-3232.
